Jonathan Lucroy To Catch Max Scherzer Tuesday
Jonathan Lucroy to catch starting pitcher Max Scherzer in the team's first regular season game of the season on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves. Lucroy needs eight more days to reach 10 years in the major leagues. The 34-year-old backstop will be replacing Yan Gomes, who was among those on the roster that were placed in the league's COVID-19 protocols. Lucroy was recently signed to a minor league deal and will be a short-term replacement while the Nationals are short-handed in the early going. He will hit eighth on Tuesday against Atlanta left-hander Drew Smyly. You can avoid Lucroy in most season-long leagues, and he'll be a cheap yet low-upside DFS selection in Washington's first game of the 2021 season.
