John Gant Walks A Tightrope On Tuesday

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher John Gant walked a tightrope throughout his start against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday but ended up with a decent outing. In total, he tossed four innings, allowing just one unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out four. The Marlins were threatening in almost every inning Gant pitched, but were just never able to come up with the big hit to score runs. Had a few things broken just slightly differently, Gant could have been in for a rough start. He'll keep his spot in the rotation until the Cardinals starters get healthy, but he's likely heading back to the bullpen before long.
