2 years agoWashington Capitals defenseman John Carlson (face) was moved to Injured Reserve on Tuesday, and head coach Peter Laviolette said that he is out "long term." Carlson took a puck to the face in Friday's 4-1 win over Winnipeg and was even forced to spend some time in the hospital. The 32-year-old exits the lineup with 21 points to his name through 30 appearances. Trevor van Riemsdyk will move up in the lineup to replace Carlson on Tuesday versus the Rangers, while his absence will further boost the value of Erik Gustafsson, who has already been hot lately and will now get a chance to ride with the first power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
