Joe Girardi Likes What He Sees From Andrew McCutchen
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 2-for-2 with an RBI against Yankees ace Gerrit Cole on Thursday, while also helping the defense with an outfield assist in the third inning. "That's a really good day for Cutch," manager Joe Girardi said. "Cutch is moving so much better this year than he was last year, and he's over the mental hurdles of the knee surgery. I like what I see." McCutchen is no longer in his prime at 34 years of age and coming off knee surgery from 2019. However, he has produced 20 home runs in the last two seasons in 116 games and 503 plate appearances while also adding 77 runs, 63 RBI and six stolen bases. He's looking spry this spring, so if he can stay healthy, he could surprise as a fringe top-50 fantasy outfielder.
