Joe Flacco's Clock Ticking In Baltimore
7 years agoThe clock is officially ticking on Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco after the team traded up to select Lamar Jackson at the end of the first round. All 56 quarterbacks that have been taken in the first round in the last two decades have gotten a shot to start within three years of being drafted. The Ravens are taking it one year at a time with Flacco, and it'll all depend on his production and the development of Jackson at the same time. "You take it one year at a time in this league," head coach John Harbaugh said. "You want to predict the future? Great, that's cool. I get it. But the future is going to come and it can predict itself, really." They could part ways with Flacco after this year if he struggles again, and they'd receive $10.5 million in salary cap space (or $18.5 million if he's released or traded after June 1). Flacco has been beat up the last few years and has been in decline, so he's really not even attractive as a fantasy backup, even with Baltimore's improved wide receiver group.
