Joe Flacco Signs One-Year Deal With Eagles
4 years agoThe Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent quarterback Joe Flacco to a one-year deal with $3.5 million guaranteed, according to a source. He'll have the chance to earn $4 million more in incentives. Flacco is now in line to back up second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts after the Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. Flacco has 175 career starts, so he'll be a valuable veteran resource for Hurts, who was a second-round pick last year. Flacco made five appearances with the New York Jets last year with Sam Darnold injured, but he went 0-4 as a starter and was mediocre as a passer. He grew up close to Philadelphia, so this will be a homecoming for the veteran signal-caller. The 36-year-old is well past his prime and would be a low-upside QB2 if Hurts were to get injured.
