J.J. Wetherholt Slugs Two Homers on Wednesday
J.J. Wetherholt went 2-for-4 with two homers in Wednesday's 6-0 win against Triple-A Gwinnett. Wetherholt crushed a hanging curveball in the bottom of the first to get the scoring started, and then sent his next homer 444 feet for the second-longest homer of the night in Triple-A. The 22-year-old was a hard-hit machine in this one, with his four batted balls having exit velocities of 100.4, 101.1, 105.4, and 106.7 MPH. The Cardinals prospect has had no issues in his transition from Double-A to Triple-A, as he is hitting .379/.455/.966 with four homers and a 4:5 BB:K in 33 plate appearances. If he continues on a torrid pace like this, he could make his MLB debut by season's end.
