Jimmy Garoppolo Sidelined Indefinitely With High-Ankle Sprain
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) is expected to be sidelined indefinitely with the high-ankle sprain that he aggravated in the Week 8 loss to the Seahawks, according to a source. The team thinks that he needs sufficient time to rest an injury that has bothered him since Week 2. The 29-year-old didn't look right against Seattle, going 11-for-16 for 84 yards and an interception before hobbling off the field. He was replaced by Nick Mullens, who impressed by going 18-for-25 for 238 yards and two touchdowns. Jimmy G will go for multiple opinions on his ankle, but it looks like he'll miss at least a month and will be a candidate for short-term Injured Reserve. He's droppable in single-QB leagues, while Mullens will be a superflex option in Week 9 against the Packers on Thursday night.
