4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan officially ruled out quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) for the Week 17 regular season finale against the Seahawks on Sunday. The Niners designated Garoppolo to return from Injured Reserve last week, but that won't actually happen. The 29-year-old has been out since Week 8 with an aggravation of a high-ankle sprain from earlier this season. Jimmy G will finish with 1,096 passing yards on 94 completions for seven touchdowns and five interceptions. He had a fine season in 2019 and led the team to a Super Bowl appearance, and while Shanahan continues to support him as the starter moving forward, nothing is set in stone for 2021. With Nick Mullens (elbow) also out in Week 17, C.J. Beathard will make his second straight start and will be a low-end QB2 despite throwing three touchdowns against Arizona in Week 16.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
