3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday. It's looking more and more like rookie Trey Lance will be forced to make his first career NFL start in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. Garoppolo initially thought he'd miss at least a few weeks after getting injured in the Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but the Niners haven't ruled him out yet for this Sunday. It's not looking good for his chances of playing. Lance tossed two second-half touchdowns in relief of Jimmy G last Sunday, but he also looked a bit hurried and indecisive. The first-rounder has plenty of long-term upside, but it won't all be great early on. In a game in which the Niners should have to pass more than they'd like, Lance will have high-end QB2 upside in superflex leagues if Garoppolo is out.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
