Jets Release Le'Veon Bell
4 years agoThe New York Jets released running back Le'Veon Bell on Tuesday. The Jets tried to trade Bell, dating back to last year, but his big contract made it difficult to move him. New York signed the former Steeler to a four-year, $52.5 million deal before last season, but he proved to be a massive bust for Gang Green. The release will leave behind $15 million in dead salary cap money for 2020. The 28-year-old still has the skills to be a strong fantasy option in the right situation, and we'd expect him to find a new home in short order. Bell's fantasy value should only go up from here, but we'll wait and see where he lands. Back in New York, veteran Frank Gore should return to a lead-back role, with rookie La'Mical Perine serving in a change-of-pace role. Neither runners will be very attractive, even in deeper leagues, in this poor Jets offense.
