Jets Fire Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams
4 years agoThe New York Jets fired defensive coordinator Gregg Williams on Monday, according to sources. It comes a day after Williams called a zero blitz against the Raiders in a hail-mary situation with the game on the line in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. That play call backfired catastrophically, as the Raiders threw a deep bomb down the field to win the game and leave the Jets winless on the season after 13 weeks. New York's defense has been bad all year long, allowing the third-most points (353) and third-most passing yards per game (300.1) in 2020. They can continue being ignored for fantasy purposes in Week 14 against the Seahawks. The Jets intend to name assistant head coach Frank Bush as the interim defensive coordinator to close out the season.
