6/14:New York Mets first baseman Peter Alonso wasn’t the only Mets prospect promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, as second baseman Jeff McNeil also received the call to the desert. Injuries cost McNeil a big chunk of time over the last couple of years, but the 26-year-old has broken out in a big way in 2018. Across 237 plate appearances for Double-A Binghamton, McNeil slashed .329/.405/.633 with 14 home runs, 49 runs scored, 43 RBI and three stolen bases. Alonso may be beasting with an OPS that ranks third in the Eastern League, but McNeil outdid him with a 1.038 mark, the second best in the Eastern League. Unlike Alonso, logic would dictate there’s at least a chance we see McNeil in the Major Leagues this year, though probably not until September, if at all.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller
