Jayvien Sandridge To Make Triple-A Debut
6 months agoSan Diego Padres pitching prospect Jayvien Sandridge was promoted to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, June 11. Sandridge began the season in Double-A and tossed 21 ⅓ innings of relief. He got a small taste of Double-A ball last summer as he logged just four innings. This season, he held a 3.38 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and a 14:39 BB:K ratio with four saves. The 25-year-old was dominant through April with a 1.08 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 6:18 BB:K ratio but struggled through May with a 4.50 ERA. However, in his past three outings, he has tallied eight punchouts and one save with just one earned run. MLB Pipeline ranks Sandridge as the 29th overall prospect in the San Diego system and projects him to reach the majors later this summer. However, he will likely just be a candidate for holds in deeper leagues once he reaches the majors, as Robert Suarez is the clear ninth-inning option in San Diego.
