Jay Ajayi Considers Himself a "Workhorse Running Back"
7 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi stated that he considers himself a "workhorse running back." Ajayi did not get workhorse-type carries in the regular season after being traded to Philadelphia, receiving just 70 carries in his seven games. That ramped up a bit in the playoffs, however, where Ajayi took 42 carries in the three games. With LeGarrette Blount no longer on the team, Ajayi expects more of a role like the one he played in the playoffs. "Obviously, things have gotten a little shaken up in our room," he said. "I’m excited to get into that lead role." With Darren Sproles and Corey Clement around, Ajayi likely won't play too many third downs, but he should be the one lined up in the backfield for most first- and second-down plays.
