James Paxton Back To Full Strength
New York Yankees starting pitcher James Paxton (elbow, back) is reportedly fully healthy and back to normal, according to agent Scott Boras. Given that Paxton is a client of Boras and will be a free agent this offseason, Boras's claims can be taken with a grain of salt, and fantasy managers should be reluctant to trust Paxton's health until he can clear a physical for teams. Paxton underwent back surgery last offseason and struggled with diminished velocity and a 6.64 ERA over 20.1 innings this season before being shut down with a flexor strain in late August. If Paxton is back to full strength, then he'll look to build off of a solid 2019 season that saw him post a 3.82 ERA with a near-30% strikeout rate, and fantasy managers should be cautiously optimistic about a return to that form for now.
