Jamal Adams Wants The Big Bucks
4 years agoNew York Jets safety Jamal Adams, who requested a trade on Thursday, wants to be paid among the top defensive players on his next contract, according to a source from a team that has looked into Adams. If that's the case, Adams wants to be paid well over $20 million per year, while the safety market is below $15 million a season. The 24-year-old has been a Pro Bowler the last two years and was also a first-team All-Pro in 2019, but that's a very high asking price for a strong safety with just two interceptions in his three seasons. The sixth overall pick in 2017 is one of the best safeties in the game, though, and he thrives in coverage, stopping the run and rushing the quarterback. Adams should be considered the top IDP safety no matter where he's playing in 2020. If Gang Green were to trade him, they'd surely receive at least a first-round pick in return.
