Jake Odorizzi Waiting For The Right Offer
4 years agoFree-agent starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi, who remains the best in-his-prime free-agent starting pitcher available, is believed to be waiting for the right offer this spring. Kyle Lohse once signed for $33 million over three years and Alex Cobb for $57 million over four years in mid-to-late spring, so Odorizzi still has the opportunity to cash in. The 30-year-old right-hander saw some interest from the Giants and Cardinals in the offseason, but nothing fell into place. He dealt with multiple injuries in 2020 and managed to make just four starts for the Twins, allowing 10 runs over 13 2/3 innings. But Odorizzi was an All-Star in 2019 in Minnesota when he went 15-7 with a 3.51 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 178 strikeouts in 159 innings over 30 starts. He'll eventually land with a team in need of starting pitching and could be a nice waiver-wire pickup if he can stay healthy.
