Jake Lamb Should Have Inside Track At DH
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks corner infielder Jake Lamb should have the inside track as the primary designated hitter this year with the universal DH in play in both leagues. However, injuries and inconsistency (75 OPS+) the last two years have left him with plenty to prove. Lamb has a weak .594 OPS against lefties, too. But if he returns to his prior form, he and Kevin Cron could give the D-backs plenty of power at the DH spot. Cron hit an absurd 38 home runs with a .777 slugging percentage in 82 games for Triple-A Reno last year. Lamb was an All-Star in 2017 when he slashed .248/.357/.487 with a career-high 30 home runs, 105 RBI and six steals in 149 games. But a likely platoon role on the infield and/or at DH makes him only a late-round flier for his power in deeper leagues this year.
