Jake Cronenworth Another Trade Candidate For Padres
1 year agoThe San Diego Padres are getting close to trading superstar outfielder Juan Soto to the New York Yankees, but infielder Jake Cronenworth is another trade candidate for the Padres this offseason. His seven-year, $80 million contract extension starts in 2024. However, Cronenworth has an eight-team no-trade clause that kicked in this offseason, which could make dealing him more difficult. The 29-year-old had a down year in 2023 after making the All-Star team in 2021 and 2022. Cronenworth finished on the injured list due to a fractured right wrist and hit just .229 (105-for-458) with 10 home runs, 24 doubles, seven triples, 48 RBI, six stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 127 games played. He should be ready in time for the start of the 2024 campaign, but his fantasy stock is down considerably going into next season.
