Jaguars Restructure Rayshawn Jenkins' Contract
2 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars restructured safety Rayshawn Jenkins' contract on Thursday to open up $5.1 million in salary cap space for the 2023 season. The Jags converted $6.4 million of his base salary into a signing bonus after the 29-year-old defensive back signed a four-year, $35 million deal with the team in 2021. Jenkins had his best NFL season last year in his second year in Jacksonville, recording a career-high 116 tackles (73 solo), one sack, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 12 passes defensed and three forced fumbles in 17 regular season starts. The former fourth-round pick of the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 out of Miami is expected to be the team's starting strong safety again in 2023.
