Jaguars Expected To Release Or Trade Shaquill Griffin
2 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to release or attempt to trade cornerback Shaquill Griffin in the coming days, according to sources. Cutting him would save $13.1 million in salary cap space in 2023. Griffin is still just 27 years old and is a former Pro Bowler, so he figures to be a key player in this year's cornerback market if he becomes a free agent. He was a Pro Bowler in 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks, but he played in just five games last year due to back and hip injuries in his second year in Jacksonville. Griffin isn't really on the fantasy map in IDP leagues, but he remains a solid cover corner and should find a new home pretty quickly if he's not traded soon. In 14 starts in 2021, he had 49 tackles (36 solo), seven passes defensed and a forced fumble for the Jaguars.
