Jacob Lopez Picks Up First Win of Season
Jacob Lopez was fantastic on Saturday, tossing six shutout innings in a 4-0 win over the Kansas City Royals. Lopez authored his best start of the season in this one, allowing just three hits and walking one while striking out nine. The 27-year-old has been very up and down since moving to the starting rotation in May, but he now has two starts in a row where he hasn't allowed an earned run. His season numbers are a little lacking, as he is 1-4 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Lopez has shown the ability to miss bats, though, with 40 punchouts in just 30 IP. His next start is currently scheduled for Thursday against the Houston Astros, but J.T. Ginn could return from the IL before then, which could force Lopez into a long-relief role.
