Indians Send The Struggling J.C. Mejia Down
3 years agoThe Cleveland Indians optioned right-hander J.C. Mejia to Triple-A Columbus on Thursday to make room on the roster for starting pitcher Zach Plesac, who was activated from the injured list to start on Thursday night. Mejia could rejoin the big league roster for their road trip coming out of the All-Star break, but he should be off the fantasy radar for now after struggling mightily in his first 10 major league appearances (seven starts). In his two starts this month against the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays, Mejia allowed 12 earned runs on nine hits (three home runs) while striking out five and walking four in 6 2/3 innings. The 24-year-old just hasn't been trustworthy with his 7.42 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 30 1/3 innings.
