New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin will make his first appearance of the month Friday against Carolina. He picked up a lower-body injury near the end of last month and has sat out five games. Semyon Varlamov has actually done very well in Sorokin's absence, but it's a start of a back-to-back set on Friday and thus we should see both netminders in action in the final two games of the week. Sorokin carries a 22-14-7 record and owns a 2.30 goals-against average with a .927 save percentage and six shutouts. This is a pretty rough spot for a comeback game, but the Hurricanes have looked shaky in recent weeks and Sorokin could still come out victorious if he performs well.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
