Hyun Jin Ryu To Make Another Rehab Start Friday
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays left-hander Hyun Jin Ryu (elbow) will make another minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday night, according to manager John Schneider. The plan is for Ryu to throw at least 80 pitches in the outing, and there's "not much more to check off" after that. As long as he avoids any setbacks on Friday, Ryu will likely rejoin Toronto's starting rotation. The Blue Jays feel fine about Ryu's velocity (87-88 mph) and expect that it will improve over time. The 36-year-old southpaw has yet to pitch in the big leagues in 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He's given up just two earned runs while walking none and fanning 11 in 12 innings over three minor-league rehab starts, and Ryu is a decent stash right now in deep-mixed leagues.
