Hunter Bishop Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfield prospect Hunter Bishop, the team's first-round pick in 2019, was expected to be a part of the team's player pool for spring training 2.0, but he tested positive for COVID-19 and is quarantining in Arizona. Bishop, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is expected to join the team's pool when he's recovered. The 21-year-old is the younger brother of Mariners outfielder Braden Bishop, and he showed a blend of power, speed and patience in his professional debut last year. The 6-foot-5 left-handed hitter has plenty of loft and raw power in his swing, but he'll need to cut down on the strikeouts as he advances through the farm system. Bishop also has plus speed on the bases and in the outfield and is an exceptional athlete. He'll continue to develop this summer and is a long shot to see any major league action in 2020.
