Gerrit Cole To Start First Game Of Doubleheader On Sunday
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole will start the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday in the Subway Series against the New York Mets. Cole's overall numbers remain solid with an 8-4 record, 2.66 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 129/17 K/BB in 16 starts covering 101 2/3 innings, but he allowed five earned runs on a season-high eight hits (three home runs) while striking out six and walking two in five innings in a loss to the division-rival Boston Red Sox his last time out. June was rough for the right-hander, as he posted a 4.65 ERA (16 earned runs) and allowed nine home runs while fanning 32 and walking eight in 31 innings pitched. His fantasy managers will be hoping he can bounce back against a Mets team that has the third-lowest OPS (.673) and has the third-fewest home runs (76) in the National League.
