Gerrit Cole Takes Tough-Luck No-Decision
1 year agoNew York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole was outstanding on Sunday against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers but was handed a no-decision in an eventual extra-inning win after the Yankees had no hits heading into extra innings. Cole finished his day with seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, walking none and striking out nine. The 33-year-old was absolutely dominant and currently leads the league in ERA (2.79), games started (30), innings pitched (187), batters faced (743) and WHIP (1.03) on the year. Cole has been even better in his last four starts, allowing only five runs (four earned) on 18 hits (three homers) while walking just two and striking out 34 in 26 2/3 innings. He remains a must-start for fantasy managers down the stretch.
