German Marquez Shuts Down Rays
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez was on fire on Wednesday as he shut out the Rays for seven innings. Marquez struck out seven and walked three while only allowing three hits to keep the game locked into a 0-0 tie that was eventually decided in extra innings. The performance comes on the back of the news that Marquez signed a five-year, $43 million extension with Colorado that will take care of all of his arbitration years and first couple years of free agency. So far, Marquez has picked up where he left off in the second-half of last season, though he's now got six walks in 13 innings of work, so there's still some concern there. Marquez is slated to host the Braves next week, so it should be a good test for the young righty.
