Gavin Sheets Goes Deep Twice In Extra-Inning Loss in Toronto
Gavin Sheets helped get the Padres out of an offensive slump in Thursday's series finale in Toronto against the Blue Jays, but his two-homer game wasn't enough to avoid a series sweep and the team's sixth straight loss. Sheets' fantasy managers were happy, though, as he finished the 7-6 defeat in 11 innings by going 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Both of the 29-year-old lefty slugger's homers were two-run jobs, one off starter Bowden Francis and the other off closer Jeff Hoffman in the ninth inning to send the game to extras. His RBI single in extras briefly put SD up 6-5. Sheets is now up to eight home runs on the year while slashing .286/.333/.497 in 45 games for the Friars. He doesn't play much against lefties, but his power will continue playing in fantasy as long as he stays hot.
