Garrett Bolles Focused On Improving In 2020
4 years agoDenver Broncos left tackle Garrett Bolles, a former first-round pick, is entering his fourth season in Denver with plenty to prove after leading the league in holding penalties in 2019. "Nobody likes to get booed, so I took that upon myself to get better," Bolles said. "I did whatever I can. I took [steps]. I worked out hard. I put on 20 extra pounds." Despite his struggles last year, Bolles was called for only one holding call over the final five weeks of the season, and he ranked fourth in Pro Football Focus' grading among all tackles who played at least 200 snaps from Weeks 13-17 with quarterback Drew Lock under center. With Lock set to be the starter for his first full season in 2020, the Broncos will need Bolles and their entire offensive line to be much better if they want to surprise folks in the tough AFC West. He'll also need to improve his play if he wishes to stay in Denver long-term, as he's set to be a free agent after this season after the team declined his fifth-year option.
