Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff Won't Pitch This Weekend
1 year agoThe Milwaukee Brewers will give right-handers Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff some extra rest before the postseason and won't have them pitch in the final series of the regular season this weekend against the Chicago Cubs. Woodruff will throw some live batting practice on Friday as his final tune-up. The Brewers could face the Cubs next week in the wild-card series as well, so they'll keep the Cubs from potentially facing two of their starters twice. Peralta, 27, will finish his 2023 season with a 3.86 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 210 strikeouts in 165 2/3 innings over 30 starts. Woodruff, 30, was even better with a 2.28 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 74 K's in 67 innings pitched in just 11 starts due to injury.
