Everson Pereira Still Sidelined
1 year agoNew York Yankees rookie outfielder Everson Pereira (hamstring) is set to miss yet another game on Tuesday against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. In his absence, Oswaldo Cabrera is making another start in left field and will be in the nine-hole against Blue Jays left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. Pereira, one of the team's top prospects, made his MLB debut on Aug. 22 but hasn't played since Sept. 14 because of his hamstring injury, and manager Aaron Boone acknowledged that the injury could send the youngster to the injured list. With just under two weeks left in the 2023 season, Pereira may have played his last game this year. The 22-year-old Venezuelan has also struggled in his first 70 big-league at-bats, going 10-for-70 (.143) with no homers, seven RBI, four steals and six runs scored.
