Eury Perez to Make Season Debut on Monday
Eury Perez (elbow) will make his 2025 season debut and start on Monday in the series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Perez had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in April of last year and hasn't appeared in an MLB regular-season game since Sept. 20 of 2023. The 22-year-old showed his upside with a 3.15 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 108:32 K:BB in 91 1/3 innings in his first 19 MLB starts in 2023 and looked great during his minor-league rehab start with a 1.99 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 22 2/3 frames with Single-A Jupiter and Triple-A Jacksonville over eight start. Although Perez could certainly be rusty against big-league hitters upon his return, the upside is pretty tempting right away to use him in starting lineups on Monday in a great matchup against the Pirates.
