Eury Perez Likely to Make Season Debut Early Next Week
Eury Perez (elbow) will make his final minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Triple-A Jacksonville and will be reinstated from the 60-day injured list after that, likely to make his 2025 debut in the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates that runs from June 9-11. Fantasy managers should run to the waiver wire and pick up Perez if he's available, even though the 22-year-old could be inconsistent in his return from Tommy John surgery in April of last year. In seven minor-league rehab starts, he posted a 1.96 ERA with an 11.3 K/9 and 3.4 BB/9 in 18 1/3 innings pitched. Perez went five inning (72 pitches and averaged 97.9 mph with his fastball in his most recent rehab start. He will take over the rotation spot of Max Meyer (hip), who went on the IL on Tuesday. Perez looked like a future fantasy ace in his debut season in 2023. UPDATE: Perez allowed a run in 4 1/3 innings while striking out four in his final rehab start for Jacksonville on Tuesday.
