Eric Hosmer Grabs Pine Against Left-Hander
3 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer is not in the starting lineup on Monday against Washington Nationals left-hander Jon Lester. Hosmer has actually hit .289 (11-for-38) in the last two weeks, but he'll get a day of rest against the veteran southpaw to open the series against Washington. The counting stats (six homers, 39 RBI, four stolen bases) leave something to be desired in mixed leagues, but Hosmer remains valuable in this potent San Diego lineup. Jake Cronenworth moves to first base Monday, allowing Ha-Seong Kim to play second base and hit seventh against Lester. Kim has been much better against lefties, hitting .277 (13-for-47) with one of his five home runs on the season, so he'll be worth considering as a low-cost matchup play in DFS this evening.
