Eric Cole Rebounding Well In The Sunshine State
9 months agoAfter an opening-round 78 at the Cognizant Classic two weeks ago provided a disastrous start to his annual homecoming, Eric Cole rebounded quite nicely at a much more demanding track in Orlando. The Delray Beach native shot (-1) over four days at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill: gaining over 2.5 shots on the field average in a 21st-place finish. If Cole remains in the mood for a difficult venue, TPC Sawgrass will be the perfect spot for him to continue back on the comeback trail, as the ever-present threat of water and one of the highest miss penalties on the PGA Tour will have no problem flushing out those with severe ball-striking deficiencies. Cole had no problem navigating the trouble here last year: shooting scores of 69/68 on the weekend to settle into a comfortable 23rd-place finish. Given the metronomic consistency we've seen out of him since his arrival on Tour last season, it's difficult to bet against Eric Cole -- particularly on these shorter, positional tracks.
