Emmanuel Rivera Leaves Early With Wrist Pain

Kansas City Royals third baseman Emmanuel Rivera (wrist) left the game early on Tuesday night with left wrist pain. Rivera lined out in his only plate appearance before being removed in the second inning. The 25-year-old was called up on Monday after hitting an impressive .282/.337/.593 with 14 home runs and 40 RBI in 44 games with Triple-A Omaha, and he's expected to get regular playing time at the hot corner. As long as this wrist injury doesn't require an injured list stint, Rivera deserves consideration in deep mixed and AL-only leagues with the opportunity at third base. Hanser Alberto took over for Rivera on Tuesday and figures to start at third base for however long Rivera is out.
