Eduardo Rodriguez Agrees To Four-Year Deal With Diamondbacks
1 year agoFree-agent left-handed starter Eduardo Rodriguez and the Arizona Diamondbacks agreed to a four-year contract for around $20 million per year on Wednesday night, pending a physical, according to sources familiar with the agreement. E-Rod became a free agent this winter after opting out of the final three years of his contract with the Detroit Tigers. In need of more pitching help for their rotation next to Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly, the 30-year-old Rodriguez will be a big upgrade after he posted a career-best 3.30 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with a 23% strikeout rate and 7.7% walk rate in 26 starts in 2023. E-Rod comes with durability concerns -- he's reached the 200-inning mark just once in eight big-league seasons -- but when he's healthy, he should be solid mid-rotation fantasy starter in his new home in the desert.
