6 years agoThe Boston Red Sox placed infielder Eduardo Nunez on the 10-day injured list with a mid-back strain on Friday and called up infielders Tzu-Wei Lin and Michael Chavis from Triple-A Pawtucket in a corresponding move. Boston also designated pitcher Erasmo Ramirez for assignment. Boston is in dire straights with all three of their second base options -- Nunez, Dustin Pedroia (knee) and Brock Holt (eye) on the injured list, so Lin and Chavis figure to split time there moving forward. Chavis is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and was hitting .250 with four homers and six RBI in 12 games in the minors before his call-up. He'll have more appeal in dynasty/keeper leagues, as it's unknown how much playing time he'll get or whether his stay in the big leagues will be a short one or not.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
