1 year agoBoston Red Sox infielder Eduardo Nunez exercised his $5 million player option for the 2019 season on Thursday. Nunez was a postseason hero for a big three-run homer in Game 1 of the World Series against the Dodgers, but he was somewhat of a disappointment during the regular season, mainly due to nagging lower-body issues. With Dustin Pedroia (knee) likely returning to the keystone in 2019 and Rafael Devers hopefully developing into an everyday third baseman, Nunez figures to serve in a utility role next year. Injuries are also a question for the 31-year-old, so he'll merely be a multi-position depth piece in AL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
