Dustin Hopkins Released, Chris Blewitt Promoted
3 years agoThe Washington Football Team released kicker Dustin Hopkins on Wednesday and promoted Chris Blewitt to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad. Blewitt will take over as the primary kicker in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers. He won't be a recommended streamer in his first NFL game. Hopkins has spent his entire career with Washington since 2015 and has made 84% of his 194 field-goal attempts in that span. The 31-year-old was 12-for-14 on his field-goal tries and 10-for-12 on extra points through the first six games of this season, but Washington has elected to move on in favor of Blewitt. It remains to be seen if they will bring in more kicking competition, but for now, fantasy managers can avoid the kicking position in D.C.
