Drew Lock Heads Into Regular Season As The Backup
3 years agoDenver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock will enter the team's final preseason game on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams and the 2021 regular season opener as the backup to Teddy Bridgewater after the two competed for the starting job in training camp. Lock wasn't a disaster in the preseason, but Bridgewater just outplayed him slightly to win the starting job. The 24-year-old former second-rounder landed in this position after a disappointing 2020 season in which he started 13 games. Lock finished last in the league in completion percentage (57.3) and was tied for the lead in interceptions with 15. It wouldn't be a surprise if Lock ends up starting some games this year at some point, and Denver's offense has some talented weapons to work with, but Lock's fantasy stock is obviously at a low point as Week 1 approaches.
