Dinelson Lamet Won't Pitch Before All-Star Break
3 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Dinelson Lamet (forearm) will not pitch before the All-Star break. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise after the oft-injured Lamet was recently placed on the injured list with right forearm inflammation. The 28-year-old right-hander broke out in 2020, and he's been solid in 11 appearances (nine starts) spanning 34 1/3 innings this year (3.67 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 10.0 K/9). However, fantasy managers must consider him a high injury risk despite the attractive 30.9 percent career strikeout rate in four major league seasons. Lamet also made it to five innings in a start just twice in the first half of the season, and it might take him a while to get stretched out in the second half when he returns. The strikeouts are nice, but the injuries are becoming frustrating.
