The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Lakeside High School (Wash.) outfielder Corbin Carroll with the 16th overall pick in the 2019 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Monday. The left-handed hitting Carroll drew raves for his hit-and-run ability and impressive speed, both on the base paths and tracking down balls in the outfield. He is committed to play collegiate baseball at UCLA, so the Snakes might have to wait a while before getting him into this minor-league system. "We thought (it) was an exceptional pick at that spot," director of scouting Deric Ladnier said.
