David Bakhtiari An Obvious Cut Candidate
10 months agoThe Athletic's Matt Schneidman writes that veteran left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) is an obvious cut candidate for the Green Bay Packers this offseason. The five-time All-Pro has played in only 25 of a possible 72 games in the regular season and playoffs over the last four seasons. The torn ACL he suffered in a Week 17 practice in 2020 has lingered, although he's hoping to finally be clear of his knee issues after his most recent surgery. Bakhtiari could still be strong when healthy, but he'll turn 33 in September and cannot be counted on to stay on the field at this point in his career. He's under contract for one more season, and the Packers would free up just less than $21 million in salary cap space if they cut him.
