Darrell Henderson Jr. Still Expected To Have A Big Role
3 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that running back Darrell Henderson Jr. is "still going to have a very big role" despite the team recently trading for former New England Patriots running back Sony Michel. Henderson recently suffered a thumb injury, but he appears to be on track for the Week 1 start and the lead role in the backfield after Cam Akers' (Achilles) season-ending injury. The bad news for Henderson is that Michel is an upgrade over both Xavier Jones and Jake Funk, and while Michel isn't really a threat for pass-catching work, he could steal valuable goal-line touches. On top of it, Henderson has had three significant lower-body injuries in two seasons in the NFL. A three-down role is possible, but his injury history and the addition of Michel make him more of a low-end RB2/high-end RB3 target now.
