Danny Duffy Blown Up In Sixth Inning
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy was rolling along until the sixth inning on Friday, and then it all fell apart. Duffy had only allowed two hits through five innings, but he slowly came undone in the sixth when he led the inning off with a walk. Following a strikeout, Duffy allowed three straight singles and then walked a batter to load the bases. Three mound visits also occurred in that time, culminating in one right before Duffy had to face Joey Gallo with the bases loaded. Gallo promptly murdered a 1-1 thigh-high fastball, giving him his first ever grand slam. The six-run outburst would be the end for him, and he would be saddled with the loss. Duffy is scheduled to face the Red Sox next week.
