Daniel Jones, Darren Waller Not Likely To Play Friday
1 year agoNew York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones and tight end Darren Waller are unlikely to suit up for the preseason opener against the Detroit Lions on Friday night. Jones is entrenched as the starter. Tyrod Taylor is the clear backup and doesn't need many repetitions in an exhibition game, so third-stringer Tommy Devito should see a ton of action against Detroit. The Giants also have little reason to play backup tight end Daniel Bellinger, who has built on a solid rookie year with a strong training camp. Lawrence Cager has the inside track on the No. 3 TE role. In fantasy, Jones is on the QB1/2 borderline, mainly for his rushing abilities. Big things are expected of Waller in his first year in the Big Apple. As a likely target hog in this offense, he has top-five potential at the position.
